  • 1 Box Frozen Puff Pastry

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 Tsp Water

  • 4 Oz Cream Cheese

  • 4 Oz Mascarpone Cheese

  • 1 Egg Yolk

  • 3 Tbsp Powdered Sugar

  • 1 Tsp Lemon Juice

  • 1 Tsp Lemon Zest

  • ¼ Tsp Vanilla Extract

  • ¼ Tsp Salt

Cheese Danish with Fermented Blueberry Butter and Candied Lemons

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Thaw 1 box of frozen puff pastry as indicated on the package.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 400℉. Line 2 baking pans with parchment paper.

Step 3

In a small bowl, beat 1 egg with 1 teaspoon of water to create an egg wash. Set aside.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat together 4 ounces of cream cheese, 4 ounces of mascarpone cheese, 1 egg yolk, 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of lemon zest, ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract and ¼ teaspoon of salt.

Step 5

Lay out the puff pastry and cut each sheet into 4 squares. Fold the corners over about 1”.

Step 6

Spoon approximately 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.

Step 7

Brush the exposed puff pastry with the egg wash and bake for approximately 20 minutes until the dough is puffed and golden brown.

Step 8

When complete, remove from the oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar or top with your jam of choice and serve.
