How to make Balsamic Reduction

Hi Chefs, Myka here 👋 Is it just me, or does balsamic reduction go with almost every dish under the sun? From crusty bruschetta to sharp cheeses, tasty meats to your favorite flaky fishes, balsamic reduction can take any dish to new heights. This three-step recipe is so simple, you’ll never go back to store-bought balsamic reduction again. Simply simmer balsamic vinegar with some brown sugar, and you’ll have your own balsamic reduction in no time.

Happy cooking!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Add 2 cups of balsamic vinegar and ⅓ cup of brown sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.

Step 2

Bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until the vinegar thickens and is reduced to about a ½ cup. Approximately 20 minutes.

Step 3

Remove from heat and allow to cool completely before using.
